What General Mills Said
General Mills confirmed the policy change in a statement to KARE 11.
The Golden Valley, Minnesota-based company said most employees are already working from the office three days per week after implementing a hybrid mandate earlier in 2025.
The company did not announce a full five-day return. Fridays will remain remote for most affected employees.
General Mills’ RTO Timeline
General Mills has gradually increased office attendance expectations over the past few years:
- May 2021: Initial hybrid return-to-office plans announced
- January 2025: Three-day-per-week office requirement implemented
- May 15, 2026: Company announces shift to four days per week
- September 8, 2026: New four-day policy takes effect
The move places General Mills among a growing group of large employers tightening hybrid work arrangements rather than moving fully remote or fully office-first.
