On its website, Bank of America says, “Our workforce must represent the communities we serve.” But, according to a recent report from Bloomberg, the bank will no longer have “aspirational” goals for DEI.

The Bank Is Ending Diversity Hiring Goals

As part of its policy shift, Bank of America has scrapped hiring and interviewing diversity goals that were previously emphasized. The decision aligns with efforts to comply with new legal frameworks that regulate corporate DEI programs.

In its most recent annual report, B of A changed out many references that appeared in previous annual reports. For example, the word “diversity,” has mostly been replaced with “talent” and “opportunity.”

 

The Bank Will Maintain Its DEI Team

Despite these changes, the company stated that it will retain its DEI team and continue fostering inclusion efforts internally. CEO Brian Moynihan emphasized that diversity remains important, even as policy language adapts to legal realities.
