CVS Quietly Issues New Return To Office Mandate
Rumors have started circling on forums this week.
CVS sent out an internal email calling people to return to the office in certain locations for three days per week.
I reached out to four people at CVS Health/Aetna, but have not heard back at the time of writing this. I will update this article as soon as I get a statement from CVS. Although the rumors haven’t been confirmed by anyone at CVS yet, here’s what I know so far.
CVS’s New Return To Office PolicyHere’s the policy change that likely occurred:

June 5, 2024: Searches for “CVS return to office” spike
I track the Fortune 100’s return to office policies here. As a result, that report on my website shows up for a lot of “return to office” search terms in Google.
On June 5, I noticed that Google searches for “CVS return to office” went up significantly. They are usually at 0.
This indicates that something happened like an internal change in policy.
Feb 5 & 6: Two RTO threads appear on TheLayoff.com
One thread appeared on June 5 and the other on June 6.
Here are some notable comments.
My Conclusion
- June 5, 2024: CVS sends out an internal email to people that will be impacted by the policy change only (the people within 25 miles of an office that’s implementing the policy).
- Employees started to search in Google to see if they news had leaked and the sentiment of the coverage.
- Employees start anonymously posting on forums about the policy.
Conclusion: This matches with the pattern for other internal policy changes that don’t get released to the public.
