An organization offers to pay – partially or in full – for its employees to pursue a higher education degree.
Common Formats For Employee Tuition Programs
Most tuition reimbursement programs are framed like this: For eligible employees, we reimburse up to $X for college tuition annually and up to $Y for lifetime.
- The average annual amount offered is $5,200 (if we exclude programs with 100% reimbursement) with the highest being $10,000 and the lowest listed at $1,000 – $3,000 per year depending on eligibility.
- The average lifetime amount offered is $27,200 (if we exclude programs with 100% reimbursement) with the highest being $50,000 and the lowest listed at $12,800 per year depending on eligibility.
- Some companies offer different rates for full- vs. part-time employees
- Some companies offer percentage-based reimbursement like 100% (most common) or 51%
- Some companies offer tuition reimbursement programs for family members of employees
