8/27/2024: Lowe’s Scales Back Its DEI Policies

According to the AP, the retailer decided to 1) combine its resource group into one umbrella organization, 2) stop participating in an annual survey by the Human Right Campaign that measures workplace inclusion for LGBTQ+ employees. and 3) stop sponsoring/participating in non-work festivals and parades. 

 

2/24/2025: Lowe’s Has Yet To Release Its 2024 Annual DEI Report

Lowe’s released its 2023 “Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Report” on January 15, 2024. At the time of writing this article (February 24, 2025), the report is about six weeks overdue. If the report comes out in the next few months, it will indicate that Lowe’s is still committed to DEI. If not, it’s safe to assume that the company has further reduced its DEI policies and programs since the last reduction in 2024.

 

Summary

Lowe’s took steps in 2024 to reduce the influence DEI had in its decision-making. However, as of February 2025, Lowe’s still has an active DEI web page and current leader of the department. Lowe’s has an active, yet shrinking, DEI program.
