Maternity leave benefits provided to new mothers are constantly changing. While it is generally accepted that a mother should have time off to recover from birth and bond with her baby, there is no standardized, country-wide leave. The impetus is then on employers to provide something; many of them do, offering varying levels of pay and time off before and after a baby arrives.

Over the last few years, many companies have expanded their maternity leave benefits to 16 weeks and occasionally beyond. Some also extend these benefits to fathers and to adoptive parents who do not give birth themselves but still need time to bond with their new arrival.

Companies will continue to evolve their maternity leave packages to ensure they attract top talent. Below, we’ve compiled some of the best policies out there.
