  • What to Do: Type in your total gross annual salary. Do not include any commas or dollar signs. For example, if your annual salary is $50,000, enter 50000.

2) Specify Your Work Days Per Week

  • Input Field: Work Days Per Week
  • What to Do: Enter the number of days you work in a typical week. For instance, if you work Monday through Friday, enter 5.

3) Input Your Total Days Off Per Year

  • Input Field: Vacation Days and Holidays Off Per Year
  • What to Do: Input the total number of vacation days and public holidays you get off in a year. Include all days that you do not work where you would typically be scheduled to work. For example, if you have 10 vacation days and 10 public holidays, enter 20.

How To Calculate Day Rate From Salary

Step 1: Determine Your Annual Salary

  • Start by knowing your total gross annual salary.

Step 2: Calculate Your Total Work Days in a Year

  • Count the Total Weeks: Multiply the number of work weeks in a year by the number of work days per week.
    • There are usually 52 weeks in a year, so if you work 5 days a week, this would be 52×5=260
  • Subtract Days Off: Deduct any vacation days and public holidays you get off.
    • For example, if you have 15 vacation days and 10 public holidays, subtract 25 days from the total work days.
    • Total Work Days = Work Days per Year − (Vacation Days+Holidays)

Step 3: Calculate the Daily Rate

  • Divide your annual salary by the total number of work days calculated in the previous step.
    • Daily Rate = Annual Salary / Total Work Days

Example

Let’s say you earn an annual salary of $52,000, work 5 days a week, and have 25 days off (vacation + holidays) per year:

  • Total Work Days: 260 − 25 = 235
  • Daily Rate: $52,000 / 235 = $221.28
